Description
God Sends Us Forth was commissioned by St. Luke Presbyterian Church of Downers Grove, Illinois, for the dedication of their new sanctuary on June 13, 2010. The text, also written for this occasion, is based on scripture and is structured in a four-part form in each stanza, beginning with references to the physical structure of a church and moving into the awareness of God’s presence. Stronger images of God at work in the world then lead to God’s call to each person in the world. The refrain is a Trinitarian reaffirmation of the stanzas.
